Amtrak is very reliable on its schedule unless unforeseen circumstances intervene its route. However, you should consider those circumstances. If you are taking international flight, take the train which arrives at the airport at least 4 hours before your flight so that even if there are some delays, you will have nothing to worry.

Not true.

I used to take Amtrak frequently. In my experience, they used to be delayed 25-30% of the time.

Well, your 25-30% delay statement does not go well with your "Not True" statement. 25-30% delay implies 70-75% on time which is pretty reliable. I have mentioned anyway that he needs to account for unforeseen delays and should plan for early trip.

@ny2 & @Badhi Janne_ Thanks. Its a non stop domestic flight from BWI. I plan to leave about 2 hours between amtrak arrival time at BWI station and my flight from BWI. So, in general that should be plenty of time even if amtrak gets delayed right?

What world do you live in where missing 30% of time is considered reliable?
Dude is talking about catching a flight, and you are saying missing it by 30% is ok?

Saney, most of my delays have been 10 mins to an hour long so giving yourself 2 hr is not a bad idea.

Hmm not sure what world u went for schooling where u dont understand plain english where i have never mentioned about missing the flight. Not sure what world u r in where 70% on time arrivals are not considered reliable. Anyway it seems like u gotta move frm whichever world u live in because in the world i live, these amtraks are on time over 95% of the time. In my world, amtraks are super reliable. 😀😀😀😀
