नेपाल की सरकार ने कहा है कि उसके देश की एकता को एक व्यक्ति के ताबड़तोड़ ट्वीट करने से ख़तरा है.
नेपाल ने कनाडा के एक नागरिक पर ये आरोप लगाते हुए उन्हें देश छोड़ने का आदेश दिया है.
नेपाल में कंप्यूटर प्रोग्रामर के तौर पर काम करने वाले रॉबर्ट पेनर पर लगातार ट्वीट करके नेपाल का माहौल ख़राब करने का आरोप लगाया.
उन्हें सोमवार को गिरफ़्तार किया गया था.
फिलहाल उनको रिहा तो कर दिया गया है लेकिन उन्हें दो दिनों के भीतर देश छोड़ना होगा.
उन्होंने देश में सामुदायिक प्रदर्शनों के बारे में सरकार की तीखी आलोचना की थी.

रॉबर्ट पेनर ने ट्वीट किया, "मुझे 26 घंटे हिरासत में रखे जाने के बाद रिहा कर दिया गया है. मेरा काम करने का वीज़ा रद्द कर दिया गया है और दो दिनों में देश छोड़ने के लिए कहा गया है."
नेपाल के प्रवासी मामलों के प्रमुख ने आरोप लगाया कि उन्होंने अपने वीज़ा नियमों का उल्लंघन किया है और देश में माहौल ख़राब किया है.
कई नेपालियों ने रॉबर्ट पेनर का बचाव किया है. कुछ लोगों का कहना है कि वो एक समझदार व्यक्ति हैं और उन्होंने जायज़ सवाल पूछे थे.

रॉबर्ट पेनर ने हाल ही में प्रमुख मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता और पत्रकार कनक मणि दीक्षित की गिरफ़्तारी की भी आलोचना की थी.
बीते साल नेपाल में नए संविधान को लेकर काफ़ी विवाद हुआ था और देश के तराई इलाक़ों में रहने वाले लोगों ने सरकार पर भेदभाव के आरोप लगाते हुए प्रदर्शन किए थे.
महीनों तक चले प्रदर्शनों से नेपाल में हालात काफ़ी बिगड़ गए थे और सरकार इन मामलों को लोकर काफ़ी संवेदनशील है.
