It's too late to get cheap tickets to Nepal. Moreover, the time during last week of december and first week of January is really not a good time to go anywhere, plane ticket are really expensive during that time. I bought a ticket more than a month ago, and it still cost me around 1700 dollar. I bought it through a Nepalese travel agency called Zen Travels in DC.
(Sarhai du;kha dyathyo tyai pani, Zen travels ley, pahila 1400 bhanyo, ani sabai credit card information disakepachhi "bhai badhechha ni ticket price ta" bhanyo. Aafu jaane bichar garisakepachhi 3/400 le ke rokine, bhanera kiniyo. :( )
It's upto you to go or not, but I would suggest you not to go (in term of ticket price.) in december, rather go in summer.
I know it' hard to resist to go home, once you have thought of it, though.
