When applying for a Canadian visa from the US with a Nepali Passport, would it be necessary to mention immediate family members there who have a Canadian PR? I however have a sponsor letter from an uncle who is living there. It is a tricky situation because I do not want that to ruin my chances of getting the visa because my intention is just to go and visit and not to settle down in Canada. Please advise.

If you are in the US with valid visa, then it shouldn't be any problem.. mention it or not. If you're in Nepal, it's up to you. If you don't mention and if they find out, you can be in trouble. Let's see what other people say.

Nepalijose- From what I know you do not need to mention that you have any relatives residing in Canada. Last year my cousin was asked for an invitation letter when he'd filled out the application saying he was going to visit one of our cousins in Canada. Had he not mentioned that he would have gotten the visa without any complications like his friends who just put "to visit" under the reason section of the application.

Well, good luck!

Whenever you visit any foreign country, you need a reason for visit. For Canada, you need reason like whether you are going for US Visa interview, or visit family friends or just for fun as tourist.
For US visa stamping you need appointment letter with US consulate
For visiting family or friends, you need invitation letter from family/friends
For just visiting as tourist for fun, you need hotel reservation and trip plan.

It should not be hard to get Canadian visa if you are in USA with valid visa.
Good luck.

Candadian visa should be pretty easy if you are in valid visa here in USA. I went to canada twice. First time I went to visit my cousin. He sent me an invitation letter at that time. I never had any complication. If you are in school then it should not be a big deal. You just need to show that you are a student. A letter from Registar should be enough.
