Me and my sister's family is planning on moving to philadelphia by the end of this month. Since i am completely oblivious with anything about philly, i was hoping someone from philly could help me out here regarding apartments and all. It would be a great favor for me.. I am only beginning to learn about living in Philly and there are probably more experienced people here who can give you better advice. Are you moving for work or school? Where will you be working/going to school? That might really drive where you chose to live.

Some parts of North and West Philly have crime rates - or so I have been told. Some areas close to downtown and Old City are nice with good access to public transportation and other amenities but you pay accordingly.

West Chester and Swarthmore are decent suburbs from what I can tell.
