What happens when a Nepali girl living in Nepal gets married to a US green card holder?  How soon can she come to US and get her GC?  How long will she have to wait?  Will she be allowed to work or study?  Thanks for your help.

well peter, if she wants to come as a dependent, my understandin gis, she has to wait until her husband gets citizenship.  I have seen people with green card waiting for their spouse for more than 4 yrs.  It will be easier for her if she can come here as a student and start processing to change of status. 

On this typical case, currently applications are being processed from January 2006.  Once it get approved, waiting time for Nepal is about 6/7 years. See the link for processing time:
