Hi all,
I'm a lawful permanent residence of USA and having outside of USA from October 2014. Can anybody suggest me how long can i stay outside of USA so that my residency will not be affected. Please share a link or your experience. I search on uscis.gov and found for 1 year but some of my friends suggest not to stay more than 6 month. Due to family reason i need to stay a little bit more so please suggest me. Thank you.

Reentry Permit allows you to stay outside for upto 2 years.

A permanent resident can stay out of the country for upto 12 months without losing his residency.

Your friends suggested that you didn't stay outside for more than 6 months as staying longer than 6 months would've reset your waiting time for naturalization.
