Police in Kathmandu recently arrested a Bulgarian national for his alleged involvement in stealing data about bank clients by accessing them with the illegal use of ATM cards.
Vitaliy Vaslilievich Nekit was arrested from a hotel room in Thamel of Kathmandu on Friday, police say. He was also involved in stealing money from the clients’ bank accounts with the ATM cards, according to police.
Earlier, police were reported that he installed a skimmer machine at the ATM booth of Nepal Investment Bank in Chaksibari, Thamel. Following the complaint, the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had launched a manhunt.
Meanwhile, police confiscated 18 ATM cards and some tools from his possession.
Police say he will be booked under the Banking Offence and Punishment Act, 2008.
