actually i am graduating next semister in spring and i hea rd that when u graduate in spring it is really tough to get H1 so i heard it is better to graduate in december..so do u guys have any ideas???..what's going on with H1 these days any idea??

Why don't you graduate in August (Summer) ?

I have the same question. I am going to graduate in may of '08. Can somebody pls give me a reason why it is not advisable to graduate in spring? Also, is it possible to file for the H1-B even before I graduate if my employer is willing to hire me after my graduation.

Well, as far as i know, if you graduate in MAY ... the maximum u can extend to start ur OPT is JULY. However, you cannot apply for H1 until the next year of April. If your H1 gets approved, the starting day of H1 will be October. So, the situation is - Your OPT expires on JULY but ur H1 will start from October only. There is clearly a GAP of 3 months during which you can't work (i think) and you might have to join college to be in status....

This is just what i have heard from others as well. So, check with experts.

So, if I have a job offer, can my employer apply for the H1 in April '08? I won't be graduating till May '08? Pls. help me with this because if Jhilkaydai is right, then I might have to make a major change in my schedule.. pls pls somebody with more info come forward and help.....
